"3D Printing Near Me." No Longer Necessary.

There are a number of 3D Printing services that operate on the principle of connecting people in need of prototypes with local 3D Printing Services. MakeXYZ, Treatstock, 3Dhubs. And this is not a bad thing. It allows companies and individuals to support local services and allows access to a much larger network of resources.

But what if all you want is a prototype? What if you just need a part printed in a set time period and with the exact same settings as the previous one so you can iterate and improve with a minimum of variables. Something where you know what you are going to get every time.

The network model makes this challenging. Because even if your select "black" it might change from one order to the next based on the processes of the individual supplier. You are after all not working with 1 individual service but potentially dozens.

Now you can use the same local service each time. But even here you can run into issues with slow quoting, and indeterminate schedules if they become overloaded.

All of this variance is why we created Twist. We wanted to make sure that designers and engineers can plan around us. When they make an order they know what it will be made of and when it will arrive. We print every part in Black PETG and use 2-3 day shipping. That you can set a watch by.

We hope that you continue to support your local businesses. But consistency is so important when engineering a new product and 3D Printing prototypes. We also hope that Twist can help eliminate that choice fatigue.

3D Print Prototypes Fast

Ordering 3D Printed prototyopes is slow an laborious. Some services can take weeks to get to your parts. Others require going through a quoting process that can take several days. There are not many that can actually produce a 3D Printed Part in 2 Days.

That is why we created Twist 3D printing as a division of Slant 3D. To produce prototypes on a defined schedule and with preset characteristics so you can focus on getting your model not on how it is made.
Picture
This is how it works. If you have a 3D Model of a part that you would like to have prototyped, all you have to do is upload that model. Any model. The only constraint is that is must fit in an 8x8x8 inch build volume. As soon as that file is submitted printing starts.

The part will be printed within 24 hours and immediately shipped. Shipping generally requires between 2-3 days for arrival.

That's it. Submit a 3D model and get a part made from functional black PETG within about 3 days. Now you can focus on improving your design and not about getting prototypes ordered.

Owning a 3D Printer is an expensive proposition. They cost hundreds of dollars and require a lot of skill to operate efficiently. Twist 3D Printing was created to let you 3D print designs in just a couple days, regardless of what they are. Any model you want for $29. But there are some provisos.
Picture
Here how to get your part 3D Printed. Just go to our 3D Print Ordering Page, and upload your 3D model. When it is finished uploading you will be able to pay the 29 USD fee and enter your shipping information via paypal.

Within 2 days your part will be printed and shipped to you. That is all there is to it.

But there are a few things to consider. Your part will be printed in Black PETG plastic. PETG is is a strong durable plastic that is what water bottles are made from. It can be easily recycled by also stands up to a lot of abuse.

The only other restriction is size. Your part, must fit within an 8x8x8 inch cube. If it cannot then it will not be printed.

But that is it. Beyond those two limits (size and color) you can do whatever you want. You can print a car, a plan, toy wheel, an electronics enclosure. You could 3D Print a replacement knob for your oven. Or really any other part you want. All you have to do is create or find a 3D model for your part and it will be on the way. No more working with engineers and going though a quoting process. You submit your part and we print your part for 29 dollars.

If you would like to get a part 3D Printed just visit our submission page.

Best 3D Printing Service

There are many 3D Printing Services today. Literally hundreds. The reason for that Variation is because 3D Printing is a broad industry with many technologies and methodologies working to create offerings. And this includes Twist 3D printing.

But what do these 3D Printing Services offer and what is the best 3D Printing service for your project. We hope to add a little clarity there by highlighting a few of the distinct services.

Twist 3D Printing - Fast and Simple Prototyping

Twist was created to simplify the process for designers that are just looking to "have a part 3D Printed." We use high resolution FDM 3D Printing to quickly produce a good quality 3D Printed part within 1-2 days.

Other services focus on the process much more. Allowing settings, finishes, and colors to be selected by the user. But very often these choices just create extra work for the client. Why not just print the part well. So that is what we do. We print all of our parts with Clean Black PETG, so that they part can be functional and presentable. And we used a 0.2mm resolution in order to give is a very presentable surface finish.

Our motto is "Any print you want, as long as it is black." We focus on making our prints better for everyone without adding a bunch of options and variation that just introduce complexity into the prototyping process.

Forecast 3D - Multijet Fusion

Forecast 3D was one of the early adopters of HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D Printing. They are now one of the largest MJF service providers in the world with over 25 machines opearing nearly 24/7.

Multijet fusion is a good process for performance parts, and even final products. But it is limited to just nylon materials that are gray or died black. But the surface finish is quote good.

In order to order a piece from forecast you will need to submit your parts for quoting. Depending on the process and quantity their system will either auto-quote the order and send it to an account manager that will complete the quote for you.

Lead time from Forecast is generally between 1-2 weeks depending on the type and quantity of a part.

Carbon 3D - Resin 3D Printing

Carbon 3D is actually a machine manufacturer, but they will connect you with partners in their network that use their machines to produce parts.

Resin 3D Printing by far has the best surface finish of any other process. But it is limited in color and can have along lead time due to the post processing. It will also depend on the service provider that you are connected with by Carbon.

As far as functionality, Resin has many variations. You can print rubber-like materials, fire-proof, and several others. Resin is also the closes approximation to injection molding that you can get.

But it is expensive. Resin is most expensive 3D Printing process short of Metal printing.

Slant 3D - High Volume 3D Printing

Slant 3D operates the largest 3D Printing farms in the world. Their Print Farm Beta will have over 800 3D Printers operating when it is complete.

Slant 3D focuses on large volume production of 3D Printed part as final products. They use the FDM process so it is best if the design is optimized for that means of manufacture.

On a per part basis Slant 3D is often comparable to injection molding. And therefore much less expensive than most 3D Printing services.

As far as materials Slant 3D can accomodate nearly any plastic that currently exists. But they commonly use PETG, PLA, TPU's and Nylon.

In August of 2020 it was announced that www.voodoomfg.comVoodoo Manufacturing, the New York 3D Printing Startup, would be shutting down, due to challenges from covid-19. The 3D Printing Service provided reasonably low cost 3D Printed parts quickly to clients both in advertising and engineering.
While it is sad to hear that a company like Voodoo was shut down by the pandemic, we that we can help those customers who are now in need of a 3D Printing service similar to Voodoo.

Fast 3D Printed prototypes is exactly the reason that Twist was created. Users can just upload a 3D model and within a couple of days have the 3D Print delivered.

And unlike Voodoo, which would determine cost based on the part properties, we have simplified it down to a simple Flat Rate. If it fits is prints. $29 made from the functional plastic PETG with a layer resolution just twice that of a human hair.

You can get your part 3D Printed in a day and delivered to you for just $29. Ordering is easy, budgeting is easy.

We hope that this simple 3D Printing service will help the clients that have been left in the lurch by the sudden closing of Voodoo Manufacturing.
